Huddersfield Town: Wagner will wait before deciding next move in Ward's loan deal

Much-travelled Ward, 30, joined Town on loan from Bournemouth in an emergency loan deal in September, but returned to his parent club after picking up a knee injury in the televised loss at Wolves in October.

Ward had signed a loan deal to return before the November 26 emergency loan window deadline and will be available for Town for the next two weeks having returned to West Yorkshire.

He will not be fit enough to be considered for selection for Saturday's home game with Bristol City, Wagner confirmed - and he will be assessed by the German before he decides whether he may be part of his new year plans.

Wagner, whose forward Harry Bunn has signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until the summer of 2019, said: "Elliott is here for another two weeks, I think.

"He will be part of the squad, but needs time to develop his fitness after his injury. He wasn't on the pitch, but in the gym with us (on Thursday) after a hard training session (on Wednesday). He is not in my mind for Saturday.

"I don't know what will be in the future. We will have to see and build up fitness. I am very satisfied at the moment with the players in this position."
