Hull City boss provides injury update on Leeds United loanee Joe Gelhardt plus his take on win over Wrexham
HULL City chief Sergej Jakirovic acknowledged that Kieffer Moore's 56th-minute penalty miss for Wrexham proved a massive moment in the context of Wednesday night's game as the Tigers got last Friday's wretched evening against Middlesbrough out of their system with a big three points.
So atrocious in the first half against Boro, City were much improved against the Red Dragons and took an early lead, courtesy of Kyle Joseph.
Wrexham, who came into the game in receipt of a nine-match unbeaten sequence, spurned a huge chance to level when Matt Crooks was penalised for handball.
But Ivor Pandur, proving a bit of a penalty expert, made a fantastic save to keep out Moore's effort. It was a tough night for the Wales international, who had earlier missed a golden first-half chance to level.

Midway through the second period, Oli McBurnie, just four minutes after coming on in his comeback game after recovering from a calf issue which has kept him out for almost two months, announced himself with his eighth goal of the campaign - brilliantly turning in Ryan Giles' cross.
The 2-0 victory has moved City back into the Championship top six as they kept just their second clean sheet on home soil this term.
On whether the display was his side's most complete of the campaign, Jakirovic said: "My opinion is that we can play even better in possession. Because in this game we control everything. Mostly.
"Except in this moment when Kieffer Moore missed this chance. We didn't clear the ball and it was a bad decision.

"And in the second half, we gave away a naive penalty... And this is maybe a key moment. Because if it's 1-1, then it's a completely different game.
"But I had already prepared these two guys, Liam Miller and Oli (before the game). And then he (Pandur) saved the penalty.
"But it doesn't matter. Oli stepped on the pitch and scored the second goal. And this is very, very important for us.
"But we also we showed a good reaction (from Boro). And this is always very, very important in football. They couldn't wait for a new game to come to show that it was a bad game.
"We are dying for a clean sheet. We are dying because we conceded a lot of goals. This is the first time in my career that my team is conceding so many goals."
Hull's victory was achieved without the presence of top-scorer Joe Gelhardt, with Jakirovic confirming that the Leeds United loanee will be out until the new year with a calf issue.
He added: "Our prediction is five weeks, and in five weeks we have how many games? A hundred... So we will see. We cannot change anything.
"We will try to replace him. It's not easy because he scored 10 goals and two assists but we will try to replace him with team effort."
Offering his take on the night, Wrexham chief and former City boss Phil Parkinson said: "It was disappointing from our point of view.
"In the first half, we were lacklustre and gave the ball away too many times and made poor decisions.
"They were always going to respond from last Friday and pressed high and took the ball off us.
"The penalty was a big moment. If that goes in, the momentum shifts. But it gave them a lift and their crowd a lift as well.
"We weren’t at it in the first half, but give them (Hull) credit, they are a good side.”
