Hull City ‘exploring deal’ to sign player ‘followed’ by Leeds United and Sunderland

Hull City are reportedly exploring a deal to sign Yacine Titraoui from Charleroi - despite interest from Leeds United and Sunderland.

The Tigers are gearing up for life in the Premier League after defeating Middlesbrough 1-0 in the Championship play-off final.

They managed to seal promotion while operating under the constraints of a transfer embargo, but are now free from those shackles.

Hull City ‘explore’ deal for £10m midfielder

According to Mail Online, Hull are looking to get Titraoui on board for their 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

A versatile midfielder, the 22-year-old plies his trade in the Belgian Pro League with Charleroi and is heading to the World Cup with Algeria.

The report has claimed he has also been followed by Leeds, Sunderland and Marseille, and that Charleroi will look for around £10m.

Titraoui started his career in his native Algeria with Paradou AC before being lured to Belgium in 2024. Last season, he scored five goals in 42 appearances across all club competitions.

With the dust settling on promotion celebrations, Hull are already making plans for the season ahead. Sporting director Jared Dublin and recruitment chief Martin Hodge are said to have met with manager Sergej Jakirovic after the play-off final to assess needs.

Titraoui is supposedly a player they believe will suit their style of play against Premier League opposition.

Hull City looking to follow Sunderland example

Hull will need to box clever in the transfer market and Jakirovic wants to use Sunderland as an example. The Black Cats were the 2025 Championship play-off final victors and shrewd summer business catapulted them into seventh in the Premier League table.

Jakirovic said: "We will try to add better players than we have right now. This is also our job. I think the main players who brought us to the Premier League can stay. They can help us as well.

"We just have to add better players than we have. I think Sunderland's recipe is great. They brought dynamic players with the pace and speed. So you can build this type of team."
