Hull City 'making move' for Nottingham Forest winger but face Preston North End battle

Hull City are reportedly making a move to bring Nottingham Forest winger Josh Bowler back to the MKM Stadium - but face competition from Preston North End.

Bowler spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Hull, while he was contracted to Premier League side Everton. He racked up 31 appearances for the Tigers, scoring once and registering one assist. In the four years since the end of his Hull stint, Bowler has represented four different clubs.

He is currently on the books at Forest, although does not appear to be in the frame for regular Premier League minutes. Last term, he was loaned to Cardiff City, having previously been borrowed by Olympiacos and Blackpool.

According to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon page, Hull are looking to bring Bowler back on board to give Tim Walter another attacking option. Forest are said to be looking to sell Bowler, although Preston are also though to be battling for his services.

Newly-appointed Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom is believed to be keen on adding to his attack, with Bowler reported to be in his sights.

A product of the Queens Park Rangers academy, Bowler was prised from the capital by Everton in 2017. He did not make a senior breakthrough at Goodison Park, spending time at Hull before joining Blackpool on a permanent basis.

The winger found his feet at Bloomfield Road, establishing himself as a talismanic figure for the Tangerines. His exploits landed him a move to Nottingham Forest, but he has not been afforded a single first-team outing.
