Hull City transfer latest: South American midfielder makes return to Tigers

HULL CITY have completed the signing of Ecuadorian defensive midfielder Óscar Zambrano from Slovenian side Maribor for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old has signed a four-year contract, with a club option of an additional year.

He is the club’s second summer signing following the addition of Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland.

Zambrano featured eight times for the club during a season-long loan in the 2024-25 campaign, scoring one goal.

A product of LDU Quito’s academy, Zambrano scored twice in 65 appearances for the Ecuadorian outfit, netting in his final game in a 4-0 win at Macará in August 2024.

His first goal came against the same opposition in a 5-0 triumph in October 2022, six months after making his debut in a 2-0 victory over Cumbayá, 10 days before his 18th birthday.

Zambrano featured 31 times during the 2023 season as Los Albos secured their 12th Ecuadorian Serie A title and lifted the Copa Sudamericana.

Providing two assists, the midfielder made 17 starts across all competitions during the 2024 campaign before his loan move to East Yorkshire.
