Hull City transfer news: Forward signs, another close as door left open for midfielder's return
Hull City have signed one of the four forwards Sergej Jakirovic was hoping for in the last week of the transfer window, and are getting close to signing another.
They also remain hopeful of bringing back Toby Collyer from Manchester United to strengthen their midfield.
Transfer deadlines have seldom been quiet at Hull since Acun Ilicali bought the club, and with two strikers, two wingers and a midfielder on this year's shopping list, August/September 2026 is unlikely to buck the trend.
But having singed Nice's Mohamed-Ali Cho, there is confidence a deal can be completed for Union Berlin Ilyas Ansah. Both are versatile forwards.

On Cho,, coach Jakirovic said: "He's a good player, he played on good level in France also he's versatile he can play right winger but also he played number 10, striker, left winger so he give us a lot of options especially when injury will come. I hope he will help us.

Ansah is the more natural centre-forward of the pair, and will bring a physical presence to the forward line.

"He's much taller than me, it's not good!" joked Jakirovic.
"He's a big lad and but very mobile, very dynamic and also he can play two or three positions which is good for us.
"Of course (he will provide) competition with Oli (McBurnie) and also they can play together, which is great.
"It's good recruitment."
Hull have various options as a new left winger, including former Huddersfield Town player Sorba Thomas, so Jakirovic urged anyone considering signing to be quick.
"Maybe I'm expecting one more midfielder and on left sider - I don't know who it will be, (Robinio) Vaz, Yeremay (Hernandez), Thomas I don't know because we are working with a few options so who will be faster? Who will agree faster in financial terms - player, agent, mother, father, grandfather, club. All three sides must be satisfied with everything."
Collyer had an injury-hit loan from Manchester United in the second half of last season but it has not put Hull off going back in for the player.
"Why not?" said Jakirovic. "Toby is a good player, we can improve him a lot.
"The main thing is that he stays healthy.
"I saw that he did all the pre-season in Man United, which is great. He knows this area and our team so no adaptation for him."
The transfer window closes at 11pm on Tuesday.
