Hull City transfers: Full-back links up with former manager Grant McCann at Doncaster Rovers

HULL CITY left-back Brandon Fleming has linked up with former Tigers head coach Grant McCann – after joining Doncaster Rovers on a season-long loan.

The move sees the Hull-born player join a third lower-division club on loan in successive seasons, with Rovers having moved for the player after James Maxwell picked up a serious metatarsal injury in the opening-day win against Accrington.

He is set to be sidelined for up to three months.

Twelve months ago, Fleming signed up with Shrewsbury Town for the 2023-24 campaign, having fallen down the pecking order at City.

He made just eight appearances for the Shropshire club in an injury-hit spell, with his final appearance coming last October.

The loan stint was cut short early by the Shrews, much to the anger of former City chief Liam Rosenior, who said Fleming would be looked after and integrated for the remainder of the season.

Previously, the homegrown product spent the second half of 2022-23 on loan at Oxford United, making 15 appearances.

The 24-year-old had temporary stints earlier in his career at Bolton Wanderers and non-league Gainsborough Trinity.

Fleming’s last appearance for Hull came in their EFL Cup clash with Doncaster last August.

The East Yorkshireman is Rovers’ ninth signing of the summer window and links up with Hull team-mate Tom Nixon at the Eco-Power Stadium.
