Davies and Meyler celebrate Hull City’s success

Davies, David Meyler and Matt Fryatt were all on target as the Tigers overcame their out of sorts visitors to set up a last four meeting against League One Sheffield United at Wembley next month.

The Premier League side will be big favourites to advance and Davies is eager they should take the next step and go all the way to the final.

“The club has never been to this level in the FA Cup and personally for myself I’ve not been this far as well so it’s going to be a good day out to go to Wembley but obviously you want to go one more after that and actually get to the final and do something with it,” he said.

“We’re delighted that we’re going to Wembley but you win nothing for semi-finals. You want to get to the final and win it. So why not?”

Meyler celebrated his strike by headbutting the corner-flag, a nod to last week’s altercation with Alan Pardew which saw the Newcastle boss charged by the Football Association and fined by his club.

But the Irishman insists the matter is now in the past, saying: “It’s all done and dusted obviously, he’s apologised, it’s forgotten about. It was a bit of banter, a bit of craic.”
