Hull City's creative players catch the eye as below-par Rotherham United struggle in derby player ratings

Hull City were outstanding in a 4-2 win over a Rotherham United who looked a shadow of their best as a result.

Andy Dawson persisted with the unorthodox team selection he came up with at Stoke City and got the same result – an away win.

For the Millers, it was a day where nothing just clicked as it should.

OUTSTANDING: Hull City’s Greg Docherty

Viktor Johansson – could have done better with Christie's goal but plenty of saves kept the scoreline more respectable 6

Wes Harding – did his best to stem the flow 6

Richard Wood – Hull's movement would have made it difficult for any centre-back 5

Lee Peltier – sacrificed so Rotherham could chase the game with a back four 5

Dan Barlaser – a couple of sloppy moments but an excellent it's-the-hope-that-kills-you goal 6

Brooke Norton-Cuffy – hinted at more than he delivered but the talent is there 6

Ollie Rathbone – Rotherham lacked guile in the first half and Rathbone is one of those who should be able to provide it. He was replaced at half-time 5

Shane Ferguson – could not influence the game much going forward 6

Conor Washington – unable to have the required impact 5

Substitutes:

Hakeem Odoffin (for Rathbone, 46) – booked almost as soon as he came on, it was not his day 4

Scott High (for Wiles, 59) – was preparing to come on as the decisive third goal went in 5

Grant Hall (for Norton-Cuffy, 59) – introduced with High, so little he could do 5

Greg Docherty – despite not being a right-winger, he was outstanding there, the best player on the pitch 8
