Rovers slipped to a disappointing defeat at Ipswich, who were 2-0 ahead through Alan Judge and Ollie Norwood before substitute Jon Taylor got a second-half consolation at Portman Road.

Moore’s misfiring men are eight points off the coveted top two after their fifth game without a win.

”It was just the final touch in the box which eluded us and then the concentration at the other end which caught us out,” groaned Moore.

“I felt we did enough to win the game. We had enough possession and chances, but we’ve let in two poor goals.

“We were good with the ball, but we needed to be effective with the ball.”

The visitors started brightly as Fejiri Okenabirhie fired the first effort of the game wide.

But the Tractor Boys took the lead in the 24th minute as former Brentford maestro Judge rifled home a fine free-kick.

Josh Sims went agonisingly close to restoring parity before Omar Bogle bundled wide.

Rovers’ Tom Anderson did well to clear an effort on the line but Moore’s side were made to rue their missed chances when Norwood doubled the hosts’ advantage in the 54th minute.

Taylor pulled one back as he raced clear and powered home his fourth goal of the season.

A well-worked free-kick almost stole a point at the end but Tom Holy was on hand to thwart Scott Robertson.
