Keane Lewis-Potter, Josh Magennis and Greg Docherty all got on the scoresheet as the table-topping Tigers registered their second successive 3-0 win.

Victory saw the league leaders remain three points clear at the summit, although closest challengers Peterborough have a game in hand.

“I thought the boys were excellent,” beamed McCann. “I’m really pleased with the result and really pleased with the performance.

“I thought we won most of our individual battles all over the pitch and looked a threat every time we went forward.

“We had to be at it from the start. Defensively, I thought we were good and Plymouth didn’t threaten us too much.”

There was a two-minute silence following the death of HRH Prince Phillip.

It was the Tigers who roared out of the blocks early on as Mallik Wilks’s effort flew wide.

Wilks turned provider as Keane-Potter slotted home his 11th goal of the season in the 11th minute.

The visitors continued to pile on the pressure with some fine moves, with Argyle’s back-line constantly scrambling to get the ball clear.

Wilks squandered a good chance to double the advantage when he nodded Callum Elder’s corner wide.

Docherty was the next to go close as his powerful 25-yard strike was saved by Michael Cooper.

Matt Ingram did well to keep out Tyrese Fornah after Panutche Camara’s initial strike was blocked by Jacob Greaves.

Ingram was called upon again before the break to deny Kelland Watts at the near post.

After the break, George Honeyman did well to intercept Jerome Opoku’s pass and put Magennis in on goal as he fired between the legs of Cooper in the 58th minute.

Wilks came close to adding a third as his strike flew just wide of the top corner.

Lewis-Potter turned provider as Docherty hit home a low effort with 16 minutes to go.

Substitute Klaidi Lolos had Ingram back-pedaling with a header before striking over the bar.
