Ipswich Town v Hull City - Keane Lewis-Potter faces fight to return to Tigers starting line-up

KEANE LEWIS-POTTER has been warned he has a fight on his hands to get back into Hull City’s starting line-up but a change to the substitutes rule means players will have more chance to impress from the bench.

Grant McCann will surely want to play his strongest team in Tuesday night’s top-of-League One clash at Ipswich Town, but the question is, what is it?

Lewis-Potter is available after a fortnight in coronavirus isolation, but McCann chose not to throw him straight back in at Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday, when others staked their claims.

“James Scott is scoring goals, Haks (Hakeeb Adelakun) is scoring goals, Martin (Samuelsen)’s scoring goals, (Josh) Magennis is scoring goals, (Mallik) Wilks is scoring goals. Eavesy (Tom Eaves) will definitely get goals, so people are scoring goals and it’s not easy to just walk back into this team,” said McCann, whose side have won their last five matches.

People have to fight and earn a place in it.”

Scott’s goal came from the bench, and McCann is pleased to be allowed the option of making five changes again.

“They should have done it at the start of the season so everyone could plan for it, it’s never nice changing rules in season,” added McCann.

“It gives other people chances to play, but also an opportunity to give people a bit of a breather in games when we’re in a position where we feel as if we’re going to win the game.”

Last six games: Ipswich Town WLDLWW; Hull City WWWWWL
