The 25-year-old has arrived from Queens Park Rangers after Stoke City recalled England Under-21 international Josef Bursik from his loan at the Keepmoat Stadium because of injuries.

Under emergency loan rules, a signing must play in the games he is available for, so despite manager Darren Moore's warm words about Louis Jones shortly before Bursik's recall was announced, he will watch the home games against Sunderland and Blackpool (on Tuesday) from the bench.

The Tottenham Hotspur product has made 74 league starts for the Rs, but is available after losing his place to Seny Dieng, who was on loan at Doncaster last season. He is in the final year of his Loftus Road contract.

Lumley has League One experience on loan at Bristol Rovers and Blackpool.

Doncaster would be able to apply for the loan to be extended every seven days. They have 12 more matches until the transfer window reopens in January.

Bursik cannot return to the club until then.
