Exclusive:'I'm sure' - Leeds United star Anton Stach tipped to attract top-six interest by Lee Sharpe

A prediction regarding Anton Stach has been made by former Leeds United winger Lee Sharpe

Leeds United will face interest in Anton Stach if they cannot push on in the Premier League, believes ex-Whites winger Lee Sharpe.

Stach enjoyed a strong maiden campaign in England’s top flight, playing a key role as the Whites steered clear of the relegation zone.

His form pushed him back into the Germany fold, although the midfielder missed out on a place in their World Cup squad.

The 27-year-old looks set to play prominent role again this term as Daniel Farke’s side look to live more comfortably.

Lee Sharpe on Anton Stach

Sharpe, who represented Leeds between 1996 and 1999, believes top-six clubs could circle.

“He had a great season last year,” he told The Yorkshire Post via NetBet Football Betting. “He was fantastic and he's continued this year, getting goals.

“I think he’s certainly one to watch. I think when you've played at a club like Leeds and consistently played as well as he has, I’m certain there will be to- six clubs looking at him if Leeds can't get themselves up the table and get into the top 10.

“Maybe they will have a look at him for next season. But I certainly think with his consistency, his goals, his performances, I'm sure there's top clubs looking at him.”

Stach has not only endeared himself to the Elland Road faithful with his all-action midfield displays, he has won plenty of affection with his charisma.

In an era of intensely media-trained footballers, Stach has cut through to create a genuine connection with supporters.

Leeds United’s goals

The former Hoffenheim star is no shrinking violet but has remained coy regarding the possiblity of a push for European football.

“I think Europe is a bit early,” he told Leeds Live last month “Of course, everybody can dream, but for us, the start is important.

“We look from match-to-match. This is more important. The biggest goal for us is to stay in the league. Of course, still now we are not newly-promoted, but the second season is also hard to be in the best league in the world.

“So this is where our eye is first. So not about Europe or something, and then we see how the season develops.”
