'Could be surprises' - Fabrizio Romano issues update on Chelsea winger and Leeds United target Mykhailo Mudryk

A fresh claim regarding Chelsea winger and Leeds United target Mykhailo Mudryk has emerged

Leeds United target Mykhailo Mudryk has been tipped to leave Chelsea on loan before the summer transfer window closes.

The 25-year-old has emerged as a loan target for the Whites, who are hoping to strengthen their attack before the 11pm deadline tomorrow (September 1).

Mudryk would arguably be a huge coup and it is understood he would like to remain in the Premier League. However, Leeds are thought to have encountered difficulties in their pursuit of the Ukraine international.

Mykhailo Mudryk latest

Posting on X, reporter Fabrizio Romano has claimed Mudryk is set to seal a move away from Stamford Bridge before the end of the window.

He said: “Mykhailo Mudryk set to leave Chelsea before the deadline, loan deal being discussed. Leeds United insisting for days but there could be surprises based on opportunities. Mudryk wants to stay in Premier League.”

Leeds will be hoping Chelsea’s resolve can be weakened but cannot afford to spend too much time on a fruitless pursuit.

At this stage of the window, there is very little time to switch to alternative targets and Leeds are very much up against the clock.

The Whites will be hoping to avoid transfer disappointment for a second consecutive summer having missed out on Harry Wilson on last year’s deadline day.

Leeds United’s summer business

Leeds have made a promising start to their Premier League campaign, beating Nottingham Forest away from home and sharing the spoils with a tough Brentford side at Elland Road.

Four of the club’s five summer signings - James Trafford, Tarik Muharemović, Nico Elvedi and Harry Wilson - have made their debuts.

German goalkeeper Michael Zetterer jetted in over the weekend to become signing number five but arrived too late to make the bench for the draw with the Bees.
