Leeds United target Julian Brandt has been pictured training at Bayer Leverkusen’s facilities amid widespread interest in his signature.

The 30-year-old cut his teeth with Die Werkself, making 215 appearances for the club before being lured to Borussia Dortmund in 2019.

He went on to make 307 appearances for Dortmund over a seven-year period period, eventually seeing his contract expire last month.

Julian Brandt trains at former club’s facilities

Brandt has been pictured doing individual training at Leverkusen’s facilities alongside his former teammate Kai Havertz, now of Arsenal.

The Bundesliga club posted a picture of the pair on Instagram, commenting underneath: “Kai and Julian were in Leverkusen today to train individually. It was great to have you here.”

The winner of the race for Brandt’s signature will be aware of the need to get him up to speed, although the attacking midfielder is evidently working to ensure he is not too far behind on fitness.

Leeds United’s transfer business

Brandt would arguably be a huge coup for Leeds, who have already made effective use of the free agent market. The Whites have signed winger Harry Wilson, who put pen to paper at Elland Road following the expiry of his Fulham contract.

Wilson was then followed through the door by imposing centre-back Tarik Muharemović, who Leeds paid a reported £34m to Italian outfit Sassuolo for.

Leeds are heading to the USA for their first batch of pre-season friendlies and both Wilson and Muharemović will be travelling.

Daniel Farke’s side are due to take on Championship outfit Wrexham and Premier League counterparts Sunderland and Liverpool.
