Big money offer for Leeds United target, Pundit casts doubt over £17m striker

Leeds United could face serious competition in their reported efforts to sign Romain Faivre this summer.

That’s according to France Football, who suggest that Saudi club Al-Hilal have made a big money offer to the Brest talent.

L’Equipe were the first outlet to link the Whites with a potential move for the left-sided player, who has been labelled a “revelation” for his fine form in Ligue 1 this season.

The 22-year-old can operate at full-back or in midfield, and has racked up five goals and four assists in 30 appearances so far.

Seemingly, his purple patch has caught the eye of several clubs from across the globe, and Al-Hilal have been the first to make their move in an effort to land him.

France Football suggest that they have offered him a “pharaonic” salary of over £5 million a year.

Thankfully for the Whites, however, it is also claimed that Faivre's dream move would be to a Premier League club – a fact that could hand Marcelo Bielsa's advantage in the race to secure his services.

Elsewhere, EFL pundit Richie Wellens has cast doubt over whether Barnsley will make a move for reported Leeds target Daryl Dike.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Oakwell from MLS outfit Orlando Magic, and it is understood that there is a £17 million option in the deal that would turn his stay with the Tykes into a permanent one.

Accoding to TEAMtalk, Leeds are one of a number of clubs circling in the event that Barnsley do not exercise their option-to-buy, and former Salford City manager Wellens is of the opinion that the Championship side will not.

Speaking on EFL Quest, he said: “I can’t see Barnsley paying £17 million for him, but I take my hat off to him for swapping the Orlando weather for Barnsley.

“But seriously he’s done great, he scores goals, he’s powerful and he’s given Barnsley a whole new dimension to their game.”

Dike has scored seven goals in 13 Championship outings for the Tykes this term, including a brace against Luton Town on Monday.
