It is such an unusual time within football. Just as the Premier League and Championship finished, the Scottish Premiership started back up again, meanwhile clubs are still in European competition with next season’s tournaments’ qualifying rounds having already started. Within all that there is the transfer window.

Championship clubs will be looking to get business done ahead of the start of the new season next month but do have the fall back of an October deadline for the window. Loans from the Premier League and the free agent market appear like they will be crucial.

Jack Colback has joined Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal. The midfielder, who has been on loan at the City Ground, has finally left Newcastle United after his contract expired. He hadn’t played for the Magpies in three seasons. (Various)

Rotherham United have completed the signing of their rival’s top scorer. winger Kieran Sadlier, who hit 12 goals last season, rejected a new deal at Doncaster Rovers to sign a two-year deal with the Millers. (Various)
