Ex-Leeds United manager tipped for second-tier job, Barnsley could lose out on two deals

Leeds United closed the gap on securing a top-half finish last weekend, as Marcelo Bielsa's side fought hard to secure a 2-1 win over Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United.

Speaking after the big win, Bielsa was unwilling to claim his side are safe from relegation, despite being 16 points clear of the drop zone, and contended: "I keep on hearing the effect of the 40 points but I am still not convinced it is enough. With there still being 24 points to play for to give a definitive evaluation of how we have done we need to play the remaining eight games.

“The important thing is how the remaining eight games play out and the final points total that we make. That will be the best moment to make a definitive analysis.”

The Whites play again next weekend, when they take on Manchester City in an eagerly anticipated Saturday lunchtime clash.

Meanwhile, down in the Championship, a Good Friday bonanza of football saw mixed results for Yorkshire's side, with relegation threatened duo Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United both losing, and Huddersfield Town and Barnsley both securing draws in their respective games.

There's no let up in the second-tier action, with another full programme of fixtures taking place over the course of today and tomorrow.

Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Leeds United, Barnsley and a host of other sides from Yorkshire and beyond, as the build-up to the Bank Holiday weekend football continues:
