Leeds betting latest: Redfearn odds shorten after Cellino hint

NEIL Redfearn has emerged as 9/4 favourite to become Leeds United’s next permanent manager, after owner Massimo Cellino dropped a broad hint.

Cellino admitted that the hunt for a new head coach remained wide open, saying he was yet to identify “anyone better” than caretaker boss Redfearn.

The odds on previous favourite Steve Clarke have dropped to 5/2. Out of work since his departure from West Bromwich Albion last season and having failed to bag the Crystal Palace job, there is some suggestion that Leeds owner Massimo Cellino likes the idea of bringing Clarke on board – although the appointment would not be cheap.

Contact with him was made within hours of Cellino dismissing Hockaday after just 70 days in the job.

Clarke was said to have been receptive to United’s initial approach but sources close to him are indicating he is unlikely to rush into accepting the post at Elland Road.
