After Andy Lonergan’s mistake had allowed the Tractor Boys to take a first-half lead through Lee Martin, Ipswich goalkeeping duo Alex McCarthy and Arran Lee-Barrett were equally cuplable to allow United to steal the points.
The turning point of the afternoon came 19 minutes from time when McCarthy, so impressive when on loan at Elland Road before Christmas, was sent off for handling outside the penalty area.
A mix-up with Ibrahima Sonko was what put the Ipswich loanee in trouble, the goalkeeper having already raced from his line in expectation of clearing the ball.
At that stage, Leeds had not had a shot on target but they made amends within three minutes when Snodgrass equalised from close range.
Sonko was again at fault for Ipswich, the former Hull defender opting to try and pass the ball back through a crowded penalty area but he could only find the Scot, who finished from close range.
Leeds went ahead in the 82nd minute when a blunder from McCarthy’s replacement, Lee-Barrett, allowed McCormack to race through and score.
Luciano Becchio added a third in stoppage time after Ipswich failed miserably to deal with a long punt forward, the Argentinian finishing from a tight angle.
