Leeds United land Everton prospect Barkley

Neil Warnock has revealed he beat competition from four clubs for the signing of highly-rated Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.

Barkley, 19, who scored four goals during 13 games while on loan at Sheffield Wednesday earlier this season, has arrived at Elland Road on a deal until February 12.

Warnock said of the England Under-21s midfielder: “Ross had four other clubs after him so I’m delighted to get him.

“I’ve wanted to sign him for a long time now. I remember watching him play for Everton against QPR in the Premier League.

“He’s got a great attitude and I have no doubt he will end up being a top player.

“The deal works well for both parties as he will gain great experience here and he is a great addition to our squad.”
