Leeds United will not deviate from their trademark style to overcome the way visiting teams set up at Elland Road.

Jamie Shackleton says the Whites will stick to the plan as they attempt to replicate their stellar away form at home, where opposition clubs tend to sit deep.

Sunday’s success at Barnsley saw Marcelo Bielsa become only the third manager in club history, after Dick Wray and Don Revie, to win six consecutive away games.

The Championship leaders have only savoured victory once in their last seven Elland Road outings, however.

One of those games was against this weekend’s visitors Derby County, who inflicted a painful defeat on Leeds in May’s play-off semi-final second leg.

Victory in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off would take Leeds three points clear before the rest of the weekend’s fixtures and Shackleton says United will stick to their usual set up.

The midfielder says recent displays at Elland Road have been good, even if the results have not.

“Whether we are home or away, we keep our style the same and we look to play our football and dictate games, no matter how the teams set up,” he said.

“We have been good away and we will look to build on, not so much the performances because the performances have been good at Elland Road, but the wins and get a bit of a winning streak going, hopefully.”

According to the 19-year-old, Leeds will treat Saturday’s encounter as any other, despite the backdrop of four clashes and Spygate last season.

“Obviously there is some history from last season but it’s just one game at a time,” he said.

“It’s another game we will look to get three points from and stay top of the league.”
