Redfearn says Cellino is at Leeds ‘for the long haul’

LEEDS UNITED manager Neil Redfearn insists he hasn’t been unsettled by this week’s turbulent events at Elland Road and has instead insisted he believes Massimo Cellino can help fire their return to the Premier League.

The controversial majority owner of the club was ruled unfit to take charge of them by the Football League on Monday, seemingly putting its future in the balance once more.

But, ahead of Saturday’s trip to Ipswich, Redfearn maintains it has not dimmed his view that the Italian is the right man to steer the Whites back to the big time.

Asked at today’s press conference if this week’s developments had been unsettling, Redfearn replied: “I don’t think so.

“I know Massimo’s here for the long haul and he’s done absolutely fantastic for this football club.

“I’m buying into what he wants to do, right through from when I was working with the academy and the stuff that he told me about which way he wanted to take the club, the direction.

“It hasn’t moved from that path and I think he’s got to take great credit for that.

“Whatever issues there are I’m sure they’ll be sorted out.”

Leeds currently sit 15th in the Championship, 11 points adrift of the automatic promotion spots.

Redfear, the club’s third manager this season, added: “We’re in this process of building and he wants to build.

“He wants to build a side who can compete and be in the Premier League. “I’m just pleased to be part of the process of turning this club around and getting it going.

“If you look at recent, times, and I know it’s only early, we’re getting there.”
