The Reds will be without Yorkshire-born playmaker Jonathan Greening after the midfielder returned to parent club Nottingham Forest.

Charlton v Huddersfield Town

Team news: Keith Southern is a doubt for the Terriers with an ankle injury, while Simon Grayson also has concerns over Alex Smithies (dead leg), centre-back Joel Lynch (hamstring), full-back Calum Woods (groin) and winger Danny Ward (knee). Adam Hammill has to sit out the tie due to not having permission to play in the Cup.

Hull City v Leyton Orient

Team news: Ahmed Elmohamady is unlikely to feature after missing the New Year’s Day draw at Blackpool as Steve Bruce chooses to rest several of his first choice players. That should allow members of the Tigers squad who have not played too often in recent weeks some gametime with Alex Bruce and Paul McShane among those set to start against the League One outfit.

Leeds United v Birmingham City

Team news: Aidan White returns to the squad after serving a one-game ban for five yellow cards but a virus means United’s preparations for today’s tie have been seriously hampered with even manager Neil Warnock having been laid so low by the bug that he is not expected to attend. Several players were told to stay away from training this week.

League Two

Barnet v Bradford City

Team news: James Meredith and Ross Hannah are the latest two City players to fall victim to the virus bug that swept through the squad over the festive season and are doubts for the trip to Underhill. Garry Thompson is out with knee ligament damage but Carl McHugh could return after missing three games with a calf problem.

Team news: Jason Walker is City’s main concern with the striker having this week gone down with tonsilitis. Gary Mills is not ruling Walker out but rates him as no better than “50-50” to be fit after being put on a course of tablets in an attempt to aid his recovery. Alex Rodman plays the last game of his loan spell from Aldershot Town.
