Leeds United transfer news: Whites told to pay £29.8m for midfielder, Bielsa plots raid for Serie A defender

Leeds United’s pursuit of Rodrigo De Paul was one of the most protracted transfer sagas of last summer.

At various points it genuinely looked as if a deal could be in the offing for the Udinese man, but ultimately, nothing came of the heightened speculation and he ended up staying in Italy.

Still, the after effects of the rumours were enough to ensure that the likes of Noel Whelan were touting a move as recently as January, and don’t be surprised to see those whispers rear their head again as the summer window approaches.

Should Leeds decide to rekindle their interest in De Paul – it’s far from a certainty at this point – they could face widespread competition for his signature.

According to a new piece from Tutto Atalanta, a number of Spanish and English clubs are keeping tabs on the midfielder, although it is worth pointing out that they believe Leeds are keen “above all”.

In terms of a price tag, it is also suggested that De Paul could be available for as little as £29.8 million.

Granted, that's still a hefty fee, but bearing in mind that he is currently Whoscored’s fifth-highest-rated player in Serie A, behind only Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku, and Lorenzo Insigne, that could prove to be a snip.

Elsewhere, Leeds are said to be one of a number of clubs keen on signing Sampdoria defender Omar Colley, as per Club Doria 46.

Fulham, West Ham, and Newcastle United are also interested, with Scott Parker’s men failing to land the Gambian centre-back in a bid last summer.
