There is no shame in drawing with Mikel Arteta's side but the Whites' performance was worthy of more than that, hitting the woodwork three times in a match they dominated.
Despite again failing to put the opposition to bed, there were plenty of positives, as reflected in the individual player ratings.
Illan Meslier – an excellent save one-on-one with the lively Bukayo Saka 7
Luke Ayling – coped well at right-back considering Raphinha was not so diligent tracking back 6
Robin Koch – very good defensively including an excellent first-half interception, and played a clever pass Rodrigo hammered against the post 8
Liam Cooper – a booking was the only blot on his performance 7
Ezgjan Alioski – coped well with Nicolas Pepe, who was sent off for headbutting him 7
Kalvin Phillips – suffered a worrying knee injury but played through it. Leeds looked better for his return 7
Raphinha – Marcelo Bielsa might ask him to improve his tracking back but pretty much every other aspect of his full debut was outstanding. Hit the post late on 8
Stuart Dallas – excellent in central midfield, found it tougher when moved to right-back 7
Mateusz Klich – revelled in the greater onus on him to attack 8
Jack Harrison – Leeds were most dangerous down his wing in an excellent first half 7
Patrick Bamford – headed against the post 7
Rodrigo (for Ayling, 70) – outstanding from the moment he came on and shot against the crossbar 8
Poveda (for Harrison, 80) – another who made a big impact from the bench 7
Not used: Roberts, Casilla, Costa, Struijk, Davis.
