Leeds United transfer news: Elland Road defender at centre of battle, Whites keen on 23-year-old

Now that the transfer window is officially shut, we can reflect on what was ultimately an exceptionally quiet window for Leeds United.

The Whites failed to bring in any senior players, although after a busy summer of recruitment, it’s fair to assume that the decision not to add to their squad was a largely deliberate one.

The likes of Fiorentina's Erick Pulgar were heavily linked to Elland Road by the European press, and although nothing materialised, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see that rumour resurface in the summer.

Another piece of speculation that could rumble on involves Brest left-back Romain Perraud.

According to Le10Sport in France, the Whites are keeping tabs on the defender ahead of a potential summer swoop.

The 23-year-old has been in impressive form for the Ligue 1 outfit this season, and is said to be attracting admiring glances from Southampton too.

So far this season, Perraud has averaged more interceptions and clearances than Ezgjan Alioski, as well as making more key passes and more successful dribbles per game, as per Whoscored.

The defender has also struck three goals and five assists, and looks to be a real prospect.

Elsewhere, Pascal Struijk is in demand.

The 21-year-old is not gearing up for an exit from Elland Road though, and is instead said to be at the centre of an international tug of war.

According to De Telegraaf, both Belgium and the Netherlands are said to be keen on securing his allegiance.

Struijk was born in Antwerp, Belgium, but has represented the Netherlands at youth international level. He also qualifies to represent Indonesia.
