Leeds United fans will LOVE what Alan Shearer said about 'magnificent' performance at Anfield
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has heaped praise on Leeds United following their long-awaited return to the Premier League after a 16-year absence.
Marcelo Biela’s men lost to Jurgen Klopp’s champions in a seven-goal thriller with strikers from Jack Harrison, Robin Koch and Patrick Bamford not enough to overcome a Mohamed Salah hat-trick and a Virgil van Dijk header.
Despite the loss, the Whites earned universal praise from fans and pundits alike, following an impressive display against a side which has won the Champions League and Premier League in the past two seasons.
“They were magnificent,” ex-England captain Alan Shearer said on Match of the Day. “They had more than Liverpool, they had a great attitude, there was a performance full of energy and hope, loads of belief and confidence.
“There was so much to admire about the way they played.
“They weren’t afraid to commit men forward and that caused them [Liverpool] problems all afternoon.”
