Leeds United team news with boost ahead of Premier League clash at home to Manchester United

Daniel James is on contention to feature at his former club Manchester United om Sunday.

The Leeds United player suffered a back injury on international duty with Wales and missed last week's 2-1 defeat at Arsenal but after returning to training he is in contention to face the Red Devils as the Whites look for their first Elland Road win over their Roses rivals since 2002.

"Daniel James, after his back problems, he was out for around ten days," explained manager Daniel Farke. "He missed the last game (of the September/October window) for his national team.

"Since yesterday (Thursday), he has been back on the pitch with us. Right now, we have to wait how his body reacts.

"But at least it's good news with him. He's back in training and seems to be improved.

"The intensity (of the training) in the last days was not too high. We have to wait right now to see how his body reacts and how he comes through the last two sessions before the game, but there's a chance that he's involved."

Any part James plays is likely to be as a substitute, but he has made some useful contributions coming off the bench this season as a roving right wing-back.

Meanwhile, his international team-mate Joe Rodon is making good progress in his recovery. The centre-back strained his hamstring at home to Brentford in August and has not played since.

"Joe will still miss this game," confirmed Farke. "We spoke in the beginning of this injury that it would last eight to ten weeks. I think we are right now on week seven. So he's edging closer.

"He's making good progress with his rehab work, so it won't last too long until he's back in in team training, but not yet."

Farke has reported no fresh injury problems after easing Harry Wilson and Jean-Matteo Bahoya back as substitutes at Arsenal.

"Like always during a long training week there are some knocks and some slight problems but at the moment nothing where I think a player would be ruled.

"Harry and Jean-Matteo have trained properly, like all the others have done, and all of my players are in a good mood."
