Leeds United transfer news: Aston Villa to battle Whites for £40m-rated goal-machine

Leeds United picked up another impressive point last weekend, as they held off arch-rivals Manchester United to secure a goalless draw at Elland Road - a result which saw the Whites creep into the top half of the table.

As things stand, Leeds could finish the season with a place in the new European Conference League with a seventh place finish, but will need to close a six-point gap on Spurs to do so.

Speaking after the game against the Red Devils, Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa gave his verdict on the performance, and contended: “It was a very demanding game for us. For the game not to become unbalanced the team made a massive effort.

“This effort allowed the game not to become unbalanced. I insist I value a lot everything we did so the game didn't become unbalanced.

“What was moving was the effort the team made. A game like today, if we didn't bring this big energy we wouldn't be able to balance it."

Meanwhile, down in the Championship, it was another busy weekend for Yorkshire's second-tier sides, as Barnsley secured their play-off spot, while Huddersfield Town, Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday all lost, as the relegation battle looks set to go down to the wire.

Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Leeds United, Rotherham United and a number of other sides from Yorkshire and beyond, as the reaction to the weekend's action continues:
