The Whites were beaten 1-0 by the Seagulls when the two sides met earlier this season, but are currently on a run of six games unbeaten that has elevated them to ninth in the table.

Last weekend saw them take a point from Manchester United at Elland Road, but Marcelo Bielsa’s men may have to face Albion without one of their key attacking talents.

Speaking in a press conference, the Argentine confirmed that Raphinha could be absent for Saturday’s trip to the south coast – although there was more positive news regarding record signing Rodrigo.

He said: "Rodrigo is healthy, that doesn't mean he's fit to play. We will see how many minutes he can play," said Bielsa.

"[For Raphinha] more than serious, it's more difficult to give a diagnostic or prognosis of when he will be able to return. It's a hit which created an internal hematoma.

“Until that disappears it causes pain and inhibits the mobility. This can be resolved quickly or take longer. When it reduces and he is no longer in pain then he will return quickly.

"The impression is we're in the final stages before he's finally healed."
