Leeds United winger set for loan move to Scottish Premier League club

Leeds United youngster Stuart McKinstry is close to joining SPL side Motherwell on loan, according to reports in Scotland.

The 19-year-old, who joined the Whites in 2019 from Motherwell, made two senior appearances for the club last term.

He came off the bench as Leeds lost 2-1 at Tottenham Hotspur in November and featured in the club’s third round Carabao Cup victory over Fulham.

Other Scottish clubs were reportedly keen on a loan move for the player but he appears to prefer a move back to Motherwell after first joining the club at the age of 10.

McKinstry made 21 appearances in Premier League 2 for Leeds’ Under-23s last term, scoring two goals and providing four assists.

United boss Jesse Marsch is reportedly keen to extend McKinstry’s contract at Elland Road.

Leeds have been active in the transfer market which could limit the player’s opportunities this term with a loan move giving him the opportunity to develop his game.
