Manager Brian McDermott was reportedly sacked the previous night, but the club - in the midst of a majority takeover attempt from Massimo Cellino - stressed he remained in charge.
McCormack scored twice from close range and also converted Cameron Stewart’s cross to complete his treble for Leeds under the temporary command of assistant manager Nigel Gibbs, who took control of first-team affairs with McDermott’s future unclear.
Jimmy Kebe finished from McCormack’s pass and Alex Mowatt chipped in a fifth goal after Daniel Ward had given the visitors the lead with a low strike.

Slack defending from Town after only four minutes allowed Robert Snodgrass to poke home Luciano Becchio’s cross.
Yet just after half-time Leeds goalkeeper Casper Ankergren failed to deal with Keigan Parker’s cross and Joe Skarz finished from close range to equalise.
And deep into stoppage-time, Collins turned home Danny Cadamarteri’s cross.

Beckford slid in for his first on 49 minutes before popping in a rebound with 21 minutes to go.
Substitute Tore Andre Flo completed the scoring with a tap-in.
