The achievement was made even greater by the fact Leeds had to play the second half with just ten men, after skipper Liam Cooper was sent off for a misjudged challenge just before half-time.
Speaking after the big win, Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa was quizzed over his distinctive tactical approach, and said: “For three years now we have been trying to play in one way.
“I always think that you have to improve the way that you want to play rather than choose a different way to play. What I would like is to play in the same way every time.”
Meanwhile, down in the Championship, it was a weekend of mixed fortunes for Yorkshire's second-tier side: Barnsley picked up another precious three points to boost their push for the play-offs, Huddersfield Town took a another step towards safety with a point against Rotherham United, while Sheffield Wednesday slumped to a 4-1 defeat away to Queens Park Rangers.
