Man United 'dismiss interest' from Leeds United in midfielder as Whites ready to make 'serious move' for World Cup star

Leeds United were left to stew on their third defeat in five Premier League games as an impressive display proved in vain at Aston Villa.

Leon Bailey’s goal after three minutes and Emi Buendia’s second-half header gave Villa a 2-1 win as United’s wastefulness was punished. Rodrigo had a goal chalked off and an effort cleared off the line while Jack Harrison and Wilfried Gnonto were denied by remarkable Emi Martinez saves before Patrick Bamford netted on 83 minutes to end his long run without a goal.

The Whites are closing in on the signing of Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim, having already signed Max Wober during the January window. With just over two weeks remaining in the market, here are the latest transfer rumours involving Leeds United.

Manchester United have informed interested clubs that midfielder Scott McTominay is not for sale this month. 90min report that Everton, Southampton, Leeds, West Ham and Leicester have all expressed an interest in the Scotland international.

The 26-year-old has started just six Premier League games under Erik ten Hag, with Christian Eriksen and Casemiro the regular starters in the heart of midfield this term. The report by 90min adds that no bids have been made for the player but Leeds are among a host of Premier League clubs who have enquired about the player.

Leeds ready to make serious move for Ounahi

Leeds are reportedly set to make a serious move for Morocco World Cup star Azzedine Ounahi. Seb Ecrivain Foot report the Whites have stepped up their attempts to seal a deal for the Angers player.

It is said that it would cost £22m for the Ligue 1 club to sell the player. Last month, Leeds director of football Victor Orta revealed the player has been tracked by the Whites for the last two years – although the Spaniard has claimed that nobody could have predicted the player’s emergence in Qatar.

Ounahi played a central role as his nation became the first African team to reach the semi-finals of a World Cup before losing in the last four to beaten finalists France. Three weeks ago, Angers chairman Said Chabane has revealed the club has received “many offers” for Ounahi – including ones from England.
