Manchester City youngster Slobodan Tedic feels his dream getting closer after joining Barnsley FC on loan

The centre-forward has been on Manchester City's books for the last two seasons, but spent them on loan at Dutch club Zwolle.

Now he has moved to League One Barnsley for 12 months, albeit manager Michael Duff has says he sees the 22-year-old as more of a "development signing".

It did nothing to dampen his excitement.

“It has always been a dream of mine to play in England and now I can say that I'm closer to achieving that," said Tedic.

"I will give 100 per cent, I hope to play well and I'm looking forward to meeting my team-mates and the staff at this great club."

That there is still work to do with Tedic is demonstrated by his goalscoring record of three in 38 appearances for Zwolle. None came last season when they were relegated from the Eredivisie.

Nevertheless, his 75 appearances for Cukaricki in his native eye obviously caught the eye of someone at Eastlands, and with international experience to boot, Tedic will be hoping to make an impact at a club which lost Cauley Woodrow, Carlton Morris, Victor Adeboyejo and Patrick Schmidt this summer.
