Michael Gray retires after Owls release

MICHAEL GRAY has announced his decision to retire following his release from Sheffield Wednesday last week.

The 35-year-old, who arrived at Wednesday on a free transfer from Wolves in February 2009 after an initial loan spell, revealed he had made his decision earlier this season before the Owls lurched into a relegation struggle.

Gray, who also played for England, Leeds United and Sunderland, said: "It came to mind about six months ago, I sat down with my family and decided I was going to finish at the end of the season and I've stuck to that decision."
