It was always likely to be a season of transition for Middlesbrough when chairman Steve Gibson opted last summer to replace experience with the untested in the Riverside dugout.

And it has proved to be the case with Boro going into the enforced coronavirus break sat 19th in the standings, just two points above the drop zone with nine games remaining.
