Middlesbrough FC's Leo Percovich angered at non-award of two penalties against Huddersfield Town

The incidents arrived in each half, with Terriers defender Tom Lees involved in both moments.

Percovich, in what is likely to be his swansong as interim boss, said: "For me, the important thing in the game was 30 minutes into the first half and 30 minutes into the second half of the game, when I felt we had two clear penalties.

"I disagreed with the referee. I watched the video and the arms were out and I was disappointed with that as it would have changed the game.

"With the first, he opened his left arm, totally blocking the ball when Chuba Akpom was there for the finish. There was an interception and you cannot change the picture.

"It was a frustrating from my point of view and I was disappointed in the second half with another block with the arm open. Arms need to stay near to the body, but when arms are open almost from shoulder-high, that's a different story for me."

On his side's performance, Percovich - who brought out five substitutions by the midway point of the second half, but to no avail.

The Uruguayan added: "We started very positively with ball retention and Huddersfield came to play on the counter-attack."We tried to keep the balance between possession and penetrating. But we lacked the final pass in the final third and needed more precision.

"I did the changes to bring more energy as we were low on energy and needed to change the pace. It was our third game in a week and I rested Hackney to bring what he brought in the second half, which was being positive with the ball and I saw Duncan (Watmore) and Chuba (Akpom) ere running out of gas after working so hard and not penetrating. We needed more energy and we tried.

"I tried to do the changes early to surprise them, but they held very good and we couldn't find a different way to penetrate."
