Johansson: Judged to be in full control of the ball when Watmore ‘scored’ early in when he challenged him. Had a far worse moment for a legitimate goal when he fumbled a cross and allowed McNair to set up Akpom for Boro’s second. 5

Harding: Boro's front line posed issues. Sacrificed as the hosts pushed for an equaliser. 6

Ihiekwe: Had some difficult moments at times and is a player who is reassured with Wood alongside him. 6

A MacDonald: Picked a fine time to score his first goal for the club and made a key goalline clearance to deny Akpom. Did his best. 7

Sadlier: A surprise inclusion at right-wing back, but then switched to the left after Crooks’ dismissal. 6

Barlaser: Could not get into the game and was replaced at the interval. 5

Wiles: Deceived by Kebano for Boro’s leveller and struggled to have an effect. 5

Crooks: His night was curtailed after raising his arm when challenging Hall in the air. His stunned and perplexed reaction - from a player who is not dirty - suggested he was hard done by. Replays showed he caught Hall with his head and not an elbow and it was accidental. 5

Mattock: Provided the corner for the Millers’ breakthrough on his first-team return. Came off at break. 6

Smith: Switched to the right to work the channels and get through a spate of work after Crooks’s red. Thankless task. 5
