Middlesbrough pour cold water over Jordan Rhodes to Sheffield Wednesday rumours
The Owls are understood to have bid £10m for the then-Blackburn Rovers striker in January but were pipped to the striker’s signature by Boro, who paid £9m up front with a further £2m dependent on promotion.
Rhodes scored six goals in 18 appearances to help Aitor Karanka’s side reach the Premier League but reports in some Sunday newspapers suggested he had been touted to clubs in the Championship, the Owls being among them.
Norwich and Aston Villa were also mentioned.

Given the Owls recent interest in Rhodes - and the fact his father Andy is goalkeeping coach at Hillsborough - it is not beyond the realms that Wednesday’s interest could be revived.
