The five-minute first half double was just about enough against Milton Keynes Dons, who gave the Bantams a late scare through Ed Upson.

Stuart McCall’s men now find themselves in fifth, level on points with Chesterfield, Scunthorpe, Gillingham and Port Vale after their dominant performance at stadium:mk.

Striker James Hanson was the only change for manager McCall with Clarke returning to the starting line-up as Hanson failed a late fitness test on a tight calf.

West Ham loanee Cullen opened his Bantams account after 12 minutes as he tapped in from close range after Mark Marshall’s shot trickled under ‘keeper David Martin.

Five minutes later the lead was doubled with the unmarked Billy Clarke lashing into the bottom corner from outside the box.

And it was almost three moments later as a sprawling Martin denied Jordy Hiwula-Mayifuila.

Seven minutes before the break, Paul Downing came to Martin’s rescue, clearing Marshall’s shot off the line following Tony McMahon’s drilled cross.

The Dons best chance came on the stroke of half-time with Colin Doyle tipping Ed Upson’s curling free-kick marginally over the bar.

The hosts came flying out of the blocks after the interval as they searched desperately to get back into the game.

Upson was the focal point once again, smashing his effort into the post from 25 yards out.

The 26-year-old picked up a consolation as his reward deep into added time from the rebound after Downing’s effort came down off the bar.
