Positive news for Huddersfield Town regarding Sorba Thomas plus updates on Danny Ward and Levi Colwill

HUDDERSFIELD Town head coach Carlos Corberan has confirmed that star winger Sorba Thomas will not be involved in the club's final two games of the regular Championship season against Coventry City and Bristol City - but provided some positivity regarding his prospects of featuring in any play-off campaign.

Thomas, in outstanding form in a breakthrough 2021-22 campaign at Town - when he has burst onto the scene and become one of the most influential players in the division - injured his knee in the keynote victory at play-off rivals Middlesbrough on Easter Monday.

He was forced off at half-time and was later seen on crutches and wearing a large knee brace in scenes which followed the final whistle as Town celebrated with away supporters at the Riverside Stadium.

Offering an update, Corberan said: "Sorba has a problem in the bone in his knee. But the specialist gives us hope that even if he cannot play in the last games of the league, we have still another possibility to see him before the finish of the season as we have the possibility to play in the play-offs.

"We still have chance to see him with the team, but we don't know. Everything depends on how he progresses in the next weeks. So he cannot play against Coventry and Bristol, but he could be with the team before the end of the season.

"To have the possibility to add this player to the squad before the end of the season is something that is positive and we will try to do.

"I have (previously) spoken about the character of Matty Pearson that will help him arrive (back to fitness) and with Sorba, it is exactly the same.

"He is one guy who is very ambitious to play and does not like to miss any minutes. I know he is doing his best with the medical staff to help the team in the last games of the season."

Meanwhile, Danny Ward - who has missed three games with a hamstring issue - and Levi Colwill, mising for the past two matches with a hip problem, could be involved in the Midlands tomorrow and if they come through training well.

Danel Sinani won't feature, but is set to be available for the final home game against Bristol City next weekend.

Josh Koroma will train with the group today and could feature tomorrow.

Providing an update on Pearson, out with a knee injury since the international break, he added: "He has been positive and he is working with the medical staff. We are going to know if he can be ready maybe a couple of days before the first play-off (game)."
