Rotherham United 1 Wigan 3: Millers suffer New York Stadium loss

Wigan moved to the top of Sky Bet League One thanks to a 3-1 victory over Rotherham at New York Stadium.

Latics made it back-to-back league wins as they took the lead through Will Grigg's 14th-minute header before David Ball levelled matters two minutes later.

But Alex Bruce put the visitors ahead for the second time just before the half-hour mark with a close-range effort, while Michael Jacobs (60) made the points safe as the hosts dropped down three places to 12th.

Shrewsbury lost their hold at the top and ended the day in second as defender Aristote Nsiala's second-half own goal made the difference in a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Bradford, who moved up to fourth as a result.

Josh Morris scored a quick-fire second-half brace as Scunthorpe reduced the gap on the top two to two points with a 2-0 victory at home to fellow high-flyers Charlton.

Blackburn strengthened their position in the play-off places with a 2-1 comeback win at home to Bristol Rovers as Charlie Mulgrew's 61st-minute penalty cancelled out Ellis Harrison's opener before Dominic Samuel won it with a close-range header six minutes later.

Kal Naismith's first-half strike proved enough as Portsmouth returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 victory over Plymouth at Fratton Park as the visitors returned to the bottom of the table.

Rochdale moved out of the relegation zone with a 2-0 home win over Peterborough thanks to a first-half goal apiece from Calvin Andrew (33) and Callum Camps (36).

Wes Thomas scored a first-half equaliser as Oxford grabbed a share of the spoils from a 1-1 draw at Southend after Simon Cox had opened the scoring.

Wimbledon sit outside the drop zone only on goal difference as they were beaten 2-1 by Walsall, who went 2-0 up through Erhun Oztumer (15) and Amadou Bakayoko (31) before Lyle Taylor (36) reduced the deficit.

Doncaster claimed their first league win in four matches as they struck back after going behind early on to a Chuks Aneke strike at home to MK Dons. John Marquis's 54th-minute close-range header and a winner from Matty Blair (71) saw them collect maximum points and move up two places to 16th.

Elsewhere, Fleetwood's west-coast derby against Blackpool finished goalless as did Oldham's trip to relegation-threatened Gillingham and the clash between fellow struggling duo Northampton and Bury.
