Rotherham United boss Paul Warne has no complaints with Miller dismissal

ROTHERHAM UNITED manager Paul Warne had no complaints at the late dismissal of substitute Mickel Miller, whose night lasted just over ten minutes after being sent off for two bookable offences in a 2-0 home reverse to Brentford.

Booked not long after coming in on in the 71st minute, Miller - who joined the club in the close season from Hamilton - then received his second caution after bringing down Bees substitute Sergi Canos when he was through on goal eight minutes from time.

Ivan Toney stroked the ball home to double the Bees' advantage after they took the lead three minutes before the hour mark through Marcus Forss.

On the dismissal of Miller, Warne, whose side visit Mark Robins's Coventry Cty on Saturday, said: "I cannot remember moaning about it, so I assume it was a yellow. The second one was definitely a yellow, if not a red.

"If it was a goalscoring opportunity, he was lucky he was given a second yellow, really.

"There was enough of contact for a penalty. We are talking about the smallest of margins, but Matt Olosunde had a little weave through the penalty box in the first half and I honestly think - and I don't encourage my players to do so - but if he'd have gone to ground, it would definitely have been a penalty."

Warne saw his side lose to Brentford for a fourth successive time under his watch, but took encouragement from his side's strong showing in the first period when they troubled the Londoners, who came into the game on the back of a seven-match unbeaten sequence.

But Thomas Frank's side upped it on the restart to secure their third successive victory in South Yorkshire this season after earlier wins at Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley.

Warne commented: "I thought we were really good in the first half and as good as we could be, really.

"We limited them to very few chances and worked really hard out of the possession of the ball and we created a few half-chances that, if you are going to beat a top team, you have to take.

"In the second half, they scored although it was not as if they cut us open with 15 passes and showed that little bit of class which we didn't have, really.

"I made the change and both my wing-backs were hamstring-tight from Saturday's game and I knew I would only get an hour from them and put on my aggressive attacking wing-backs and my second goal comes with Mickel - bless him.

"He had not the most enjoyable substitute appearance and it was game over, then.

"They controlled the second half better than we did and I thought we edged the first half.

"It was a close game in my opinion and the first goal was going to be crucial and unfortunately, it did not come to us."
