ROTHERHAM UNITED stalwart and captain Richard Wood has triggered an option in his contract which will see his current deal at AESSEAL New York Stadium extended until June 2022.

The Millers skipper, 35, has activated the appearance-related clause following a campaign which has seen him make 26 appearances in all competitions so far.

Wood's previous deal was set to expire this summer, but his association with the Millers has now been extended for another year - with the Yorkshireman joining the club in the summer of 2014.
