Rotherham United: It's up to you, Richard Wood is told

NEIL WARNOCK says that the future of Nile Ranger is likely to become clearer next week - with the Rotherham manager due to speak with the trialist striker over the next 24 hours.

The controversial forward has been training with the Millers for the past few weeks and an announcement on his future is due shortly.

Warnock, who has been awarded the League Managers Association’s ‘Performance of the Week’ accolade following the Millers’ fine derby win at Sheffield Wednesday, said: “I am speaking to him over the next 24 hours.

“I will talk more about that next week, really.”

Warnock says he will leave it up to Richard Wood as to whether he can line up in the heart of defence in tomorrow’s home game with Derby, with the defender having an ongoing hamstring problem.

Frazer Richardson (hamstring) is sidelined for a fortnight, with Stephen Kelly likely to line up from the start against the Rams, with Lloyd Doyley also back in the fray. Greg Halford is suspended.

On his team news, Warnock said: “Richard has got an inflamed hamstring, but it’s still very solid. It’s one of those things where the player himself has to decide really.

“We have only got one more games, then it’s two weeks off. But if he feels he should rest it, we are agreement or if he feels he doesn’t want to lose his place, we will go along with it. We will know more in the next 24 hours.

“Doyley has been training all week and will come back into the squad.”
