Transfer priorities: Paul Warne’s squad, which has been exposed by injuries and Covid absences in recent times, is in need of replenishment, with the Millers chief aiming to complete some key pieces of business - albeit with the realisation that this is a month which will not be straightforward for many clubs amid cash-strapped times.

In an ideal world, Warne is seeking to bring in another central midfield option alongside another recruit on the left-hand side of defence.

Adding an additional striker is also on Warne’s wish list in a window that has traditionally often not been an easy one for the club, with patience invariably the key as they wait for a chain of events to take place in their quest for loan signings in particular.

The Millers have been linked with ex-Blackpool forward Armand Gnanduillet, keen to return to England after a spell in Turkish football.

Gnanduillet has rival interest in the Championship.

Curtis Tilt is back at the club following a spell at Wigan Athletic and has the opportunity to impress Warne and play his way back into his thoughts with the former Blackpool player adding to his numbers in the backline.

Resolving the future of Josh Kayode, who have attracted interest from other clubs during his loan spell at Carlisle United, is also another consideration for Warne, who could elect to allow him to remain at Brunton Park or recall him and send him back out on loan to another side.

Ins: Curtis Tilt, Jake Cooper (loan returns).
