The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem but struggled for consistency, scoring just one goal in 24 appearances.

Brown becomes Rotherham’s eighth signing of the summer, following the likes of Lewis Price and Jon Taylor to the New York Stadium.

The Millers have been lacking goals in the opening games of the Championship season having failed to replace Luciano Becchio and Leon Best, whose contracts both ran out in the summer, and will be hoping that Brown can regain the form that made him one of Chelsea’s most exciting academy prospects.

Brown can operate as both a striker and winger, but is more adept to a role out wide.

The England youth international has enjoyed success in the Chelsea’s Academy, helping the Blues to winning the FA Cup Youth Cup in two consecutive seasons as well as their first UEFA Youth League.

Rotherham are currently 19th in the Championship table, having accumulated one point from their opening two matches.
